The programme is aimed at students who are well grounded in the fundamental principles of photography, allowing them to explore more in-depth and advanced content.
The objective of this qualification is to encourage students to develop their own photographic style and specialisation in a particular field.
Integrated into the specialisation of practical skills are brand, business and entrepreneurial components that will help students develop a business model that is tailored to the genre of photography they wish to pursue.
Career options are extensive, as students will specialise in a chosen field such as fashion, commercial, wildlife, landscape and portraiture, or diversify into associated fields such as web design or graphic design.
Entry Criteria:
- A Higher Certificate or equivalent (HEQF level 5)
- All candidates are required to submit a portfolio, complete the Vega entrance challenge and be interviewed
Breakdown:
CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY & ADVANCED TECHNIQUES
This module consolidates contemporary and advanced techniques used by professional photographers, and it is intended that students will be able to use the knowledge gained to develop their own techniques.
STYLISTIC & CRITICAL ANALYSIS
The purpose of this module is to enable students to intelligently critique and evaluate images and to recognise photographic styles.
ADVANCED DIGITAL IMAGING
The purpose of this module is to enable students to utilise digital imaging techniques to create different photographic effects.
BRAND BUILDING & THE PHOTOGRAPHER
This module provides students with a core understanding of basic branding theory and practice with a practical application to the world of the photographer. The key objective is to inform them of and guide them towards the development of their own photographic style/genre (brand identity).
