Emeris Durban North Wins Second Round Of Emeris KZN Intercampus Golf Challenge

The second round of the Emeris KZN Intercampus Golf Challenge recently took place at Maritzburg Golf Course, during which the Emeris Durban North, Pietermaritzburg and Westville campuses came together for another exciting day of competitive golf and campus pride.

Following a closely contested round, the standings were:

Durban North: 92

Pietermaritzburg (PMB): 89 and

Westville: 84

Emeris Durban North delivered a strong overall performance to claim the top position for the round, while Emeris Pietermaritzburg and Emeris Westville remained within close reach in a highly competitive field.

The round not only featured quality golf, but also showcased the camaraderie, teamwork and sportsmanship among the campuses. Players competed with determination and integrity as they proudly represented their campuses and contributed to another successful chapter of the Emeris KZN Intercampus Golf Challenge.

Commenting on the second round, Kieran Brown (second year IIE Bachelor of Commerce student at Emeris Durban North) said: “It was an amazing day. We made many new friends, and I enjoyed the camaraderie. Maritzburg Golf Course is one of the best courses I’ve played on”.

Brown partnered with Joshua Lane, also a second-year IIE Bachelor of Commerce student at Emeris Durban North, who described the day as great fun.

“The course was quite difficult, especially the greens, but we had a strong team,” said Lane.

Lane added that playing sports helps him to relax and clear his mind.

Desun Loganathan (second year IIE Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences in Application Development student at Emeris Durban North), who partnered with Jarrad Rickson, a fellow second-year IIE Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences in Application Development student, agreed.

“Golf is a great stress reliever, and I often play on the weekends,” he said.

Emeris Westville won the opening round, which took place at Kloof Country Club earlier this year. With the competition continuing to gain momentum, teams will be looking to build on their performances in the final round, which is expected to take place at the end of July and will be hosted by Emeris Durban North, where they will compete for overall honours.
