We are looking for a UX intern to join our team and work with us on app design. We do not have fixed expectations about time commitment as we know every student is different.
We are, however, looking for someone who shares our passion for books and for app development/design. Bookist is a book recommendation app that uses a Tinder-like swipe mechanic to recommend books to users and allow them to swipe right (if they're interest) or left (if not).
In this way we learn about their reading preferences and can improve our recommendations to them. Bookist is live in both the App and PlayStore and has a growing user base in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and South Africa.
The internship involves analysing our existing UX, looking for opportunities to augment and improve our existing features, and also to ideate, conceive of and design new features.
You will be working with the developers as well as the curatorial team on these projects. If you are interested in books, passionate about UX/UI, and want to become a meaningful member of our team, then let's have a chat and see how we can get you involved.
We understand that you are students and as such we do not expect you to have formal work experience in user experience and product development.
We will, however, be looking for the following things:
- Passion and interest in app and web
- UI/UX Relevant qualifications and training
- Sample projects or portfolio work
- Passion and interest in books
- Experience in wireframing beneficial but not required
- Your own laptop and connectivity Your own transport (while some aspects of this work are remote, the are primarily work in person as this is most beneficial to interns)
