Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Assistant Brand/Marketing Manager to help develop and implement strategies that elevate our meat products, strengthen consumer trust, and drive category growth.
This role requires a deep understanding of food marketing dynamics—particularly within fresh and processed meat segments—and the ability to turn insights into impactful brand and trade actions.
The position is based in Congo DRC (Lubumbashi) and the candidate will be expected to work full-time in country.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic brand development efforts to differentiate Gocongo's meat products in competitive markets.
- Translate brand strategies into actionable marketing plans, including above-the-line and below-the-line campaigns across retail, wholesale, and foodservice channels.
- Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities through deep consumer insight and category understanding.
- Oversee the creation of advertising strategies and manage the full lifecycle of creative production for consumer and trade audiences.
- Conduct market research to gather insights on shopper behavior, consumption trends, and competitive benchmarks in the meat sector.
- Plan and execute trade marketing activities to boost product visibility and rotation in stores and butchery counters.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, sales, and distribution teams to ensure brand alignment across touchpoints.
- Support the execution of assigned tasks within the broader marketing strategy and contribute to continuous brand performance improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of marketing experience, ideally in the food industry with a focus on meat, poultry, or fresh produce categories.
- Strong analytical mindset and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Genuine passion for understanding consumer needs, especially related to food quality, origin, and transparency.
- In-depth knowledge of marketing mix tools and food-specific research methodologies.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and bring creative campaigns to life.
- Proficient in digital and offline marketing tools; experience with packaging and labeling regulations is a plus.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
- Excellent communication and writing skills; ability to craft persuasive messaging tailored to diverse audiences.
- Previous experience in a brand-driven food company or agribusiness environment preferred.
- Language skills English( Added advantage French and Swahili. )
