Artists Assistant

We are currently a team of 4 people, working on 3 businesses owned by Matthew - Matthew Bell Art, Roam Travel Poster Co and MasterPiece Puzzles.

The specific role that we are now advertising for is someone who will work full time within Matthew Bell Art specifically, and where necessary help out with small aspects of the other businesses.

Matthew is South Africa's highest selling wildlife artist by units sold and has an extensive global reach. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your skills, and work in a fun, creative, entrepreneurial environment, where every day will be different! The individual we are looking for needs to be highly organized and efficient, motivated, creative, pro-active and able to take initiative, but more importantly, be a fun, positive person who is easy to get along with and able to work well within a small team.

This person will support Matthew in day-to-day operations, dealing with stockists, handling client communication, coming up with creative product ideas, organizing exhibitions, marketing and sales etc. Experience in the industry is a bonus but not vital.

Job details:

This position will entail, but not necessarily be limited to the following:

• Marketing, networking and PR Sales
• Acquiring new stockists countrywide, and internationally for a variety of products
• Helping to manage stockists and stock levels
• Developing new products Helping to manage website and Instagram
• Design work with Photoshop/Illustrator/Canva A small amount of admin
• Occasionally helping run errands around town * A full, detailed job description will be given to the successful applicant
• Salary: R18 000 - R22 000 per month (plus many opportunities to earn commission)

Hours: 9am to 5pm

Job location: Cape Town (37 Durham Avenue, Salt River/Woodstock)

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

• Marketing - Find ways to creatively advertise, and find new business
• Sales - Make sales and find new stockists for products
• Creativity - Research and create new sellable products
• Social Media - Help to improve social media content and presence
• Excel and Word - A basic to good understanding
• Design - Proficient on Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva
• Organizational - Able to stay organised while carrying out a variety of tasks

PERSONALITY REQUIREMENTS

• A positive, outgoing personality with good communication skills Initiative and being pro-activeness are vital
• Good with people and easy to get along with Punctual, organized and efficient
• Committed and ambitious Able to work well both alone and on a small team
