*Admission to the two-year Master of Arts in Creative Brand Leadership requires an additional year devoted to the successful completion of a short learning programme in Research Proposal Writing. (See Admission Requirements and Procedures.)
This IIE programme provides candidates with knowledge, skills and competencies identified by industry as critical for senior brand management and business leaders. Graduates will be well-prepared to direct and contribute to the innovation of brands to establish a purposeful and sustainable position for an organisation in the marketplace. The degree is focused on the production of a full research dissertation. Candidates engage with research, critical thinking, argument development and academic writing at an advanced level.
A series of seminars will be held to support the development and design of the dissertation. These seminars fulfil a dual role:
The final six months of the programme are focused entirely on the final development, execution and submission of the dissertation.
Participation in the seminars is beneficial and will demonstrate an ability to apply one's mind and express meaningful opinions on key creative brand leadership challenges.
Research Proposal Writing Short Learning Programme (20 hours) (Compulsory for all Master's students)
All applicants who are eligible for admission to the Master of Arts in Creative Brand Leadership degree are required to register for the Research Proposal Writing Short Learning Programme(REPW018), successfully complete a research proposal and receive ethics clearance for the proposed study in order to be formally registered for the Master's qualification.
Structure and schedule: (dates and locations to be provided annually)
March: Research Proposal Writing workshop (14 hours) to orientate all candidates as to the requirements of research based dissertations, academic writing and The IIE requirements for research proposals.
April – November: Supervisory sessions (6 hours). Individual sessions to be scheduled with an allocated supervisor throughout the year.
November: Proposal Defence, Ethics Clearance and Approval
Strategic Brand Building for Master's Students Short Learning Programme (14 hours)
Applicants without an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the fields of Marketing, Branding or Communication or another cognate degree where Marketing/Branding/Communication was taken up to NQF level 7, will be required to successfully complete the short learning programme in Strategic Brand Building for Master's Students (STBBM018) in order to be registered for the Master of Arts in Creative Brand Leadership degree.
The aim of this short learning programme is to equip all applicants without the necessary background in strategic branding with the requisite knowledge of strategic brand building, strategic brand communication and brand building models.
